silencer51 Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 I don't think a CMOS clear is needed. However, you should: 1) Download & install AMD's X2 driver 2) Download & install the MS Dual Core hotfix (do a search for it) 3) Download & Install AMD's Dual Core fix That's about it... SeanDude05 Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 In all actuality, you should reinstall your OS after installing the processor.
TheFlowerKing Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 The cpu is treated as a device in windows so best to uninstall the cpu like you would a graphics card, uninstall the old and install the new. Go into Device Manager and uninstall the old processor then shutdown, swap cpu's and install the new dual core following silencer's advice : 1) Download & install AMD's X2 driver2) Download & install the MS Dual Core hotfix 3) Download & Install AMD's Dual Core fix Best to keep bios settings as stock stable to avoid complications. supershanks Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 SeanDude05In all actuality, you should reinstall your OS after installing the processor. is a bit extreme, silencer51's method should be fine, Flowerking's method is failsafe & will work fine. luck:)
