bmorgan98 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Wouldn't that involve a complete re-format, if using Raid? I guess so, But that is where imaging software comes in handy.
trabpukcip Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Hey all, I am experiencing the same hard drive lockups too, they are fairly consistant at about one hour inbetween. The usual: An error was detected on device DeviceHarddisk0D during a paging operation. The device, DeviceScsim52881, did not respond within the timeout period. It has happened while using Winamp, the Compro TV Software a couple of times and while playing Oblivion. The sound popping issues that some users are experiencing are probably due to latency timing with X-Fi cards, I saw a statement from Creative on that subject regarding high end rigs. raju Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Dear All:To answer raju's question, here we have some very interesting information to share. A test with ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe Test Equipments : • Model: ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe BIOS:2006/01/20 • CPU : AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice • Memory : Geil one PC4800 512MB *2 Dual Channel • Graphics Card : ATI RADEON X850XT *2 CrossFire Enabled • HDD : Western Digital WD360GD SATA 36GB *2 RAID0 Edition • OS : Windows XP SP2 Professional Ver.5.1.2600. 2180 • CPU Cooler : Thermaltake Fan cooler We will not jump into any conclusion here, but we guess the result of this test will expalin something to raju and the rest of you guys here. As Simon said earlier your post has helped us prove that the issue existed on the Asus board, but was solved in later a bios revision. I had that board and after 0311 there were no more lock ups. Which means it can be fixed. Pointing the issue at TLER is insifficient in this case as almost every user was having the lock ups and many were not using WD drives. Bottom line it's fixable so DFI should be on to it. Has anyone had any more contact with tech at DFI?? Raja
simonmaltby Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I am in almost daily email com. with DFI europe tech. Having forgoten i have the Asus still in use for the family i have spent a few moments comparing the way windows reports the ULI controler between the two systems. Everything looks the same except for the power state mappings in the ULI device... The Asus shows S3 -> D3 the DFI shows it unspecified. I also note that my raptors (in drivers>power state mappings) shows the top one as S0 -> D0 where as my IBM array shows all as unspecified. Thoughts? Does anyone know if we can change values that affect these settings?
raju Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Simon, from your contact with DFI have they stated that they are still going to try to fix the issue, or has the TLER information they provided negated their need to fix the issue?
Guest eva2000 Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Been playing with my new modded mach which I got back yesterday.... simonmaltby Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Simon, from your contact with DFI have they stated that they are still going to try to fix the issue, or has the TLER information they provided negated their need to fix the issue? The last email I had today said that they were pushing hard for a bios to resolve the issue. I think they recognise that Asus came up with a fix and therefore that they can too, although they were quick to point out that Asus is a bigger company with more resource to utilise. This email did make it felt that they believe the issue is with WD and raptors. I have replied pointing out that users in this thread are having the issue with non WD drives also (some Samsungs are in here). They are monitoring the thread, although not thoroughly. I have emailed my findings and will continue to do so. Tomorrow I should be able to discount the TLER idea once and for all when my replacement drive arrives. LiViNgL@RgE Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 40k too slow for X1900XTX when my X1800XT can do 44,443 on DFI NF4 This is with 1 stick of ram mate!!! That it self will give another 2.5 - 3K! Plus i'm using cats 6.5 beta with control panel & it does'nt appear to change to 3D Mode! Which means the clocks were 500/600! raju Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I think the TLER issue is a red herring, as there were many people on the Asus board without WD drives and that issue, I am hoping DFI are reading this. Regards Raja
