Lesaonar Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I have the nForce4 SLI board, will the x16 driver be better for me than 6.70? No. It's meant for the new nForce based intel systems.
haplopeart Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 No. It's meant for the new nForce based intel systems. They just have better support for the (dual) x16 SLI configs than the older drivers. They are the current version for all NF4 Boards even the ones the Dual x8 sli. The 6.70 drivers are the last release which does not include the specific support for the x16 boards. All the drivers in 6.85(3) are perfect compaitible with the x8 sli boards. Infact on one of my systems the 6.82 version was the first version capable of running the board stable. Psitech Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I was wondering the exact same thing. I didn't know if the new 6.85 driver would work with the DFI LanpartyUT nF4 Ultra-DR SLI Expert.
red930 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Whether or not they will work better for you depends on your system configuration. I currently have them running on my system and haven't noticed any performance increases. Stability has never been an issue. Try them out. You won't know if they will work better for you until you try them.

I always use it for video driver updates but wondering if it is advised to use it when updating chipset drivers.

Psitech Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 I loaded the drivers and all is fine. My system even seems to be a bit more stable. I was having a problem with bf2 crashing to desktop mid game and all seems fine now.
red930 Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 You only need Driver Cleaner Pro if you're having problems. The nVidia driver installer does a good job of cleaning up after its self.
