st3ssalens Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yes I ran all those test exept the 3dmarks wouldnt run. I also started getting crashes entering windows. I disabled my NF4 firewall and stuff started working. Not sure if this is just coincidence. Can anyone tell me if this has been a past problem and If I can fix it somhow? I have windows firewall on now and its not crashing on idle or load. with firewall on i was crashing on windows loading and if not immediately once I ran 3dmark. Raphie Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Ok, do you use the driver 6.70 package, because the version on the DFI CD is CRAP
Tantal Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Hi there, try look to System event if there is something in logs. Maybe that help you identify driver or software that crash your system.

lowboy Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Never load Nvidia firewall or network mgr as been said here many times causes big problems and do not use Ntune. If you have it un install it.

Raphie Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Never load Nvidia firewall or network mgr as been said here many times causes big problems and do not use Ntune. If you have it un install it. Not true for me, i run v6.70 without ANY problem, also run 6.67 on xp64 without ANY problem. However the Nvidia drivers like a clean windows install, this means: (Install in this sequence) XP CD DX9 Nvidia GPU driver Nvidia 6.70 drivers Windows update (SP1, SP2, all patches etc) Marvel LAN drivers You might want to run an image after this (Acronis true image, or Symantec Ghost) But when properly installed the Nvidia drivers are ROCK SOLID. However the driver versions on the DFI CD is buggy (RAID disk does not work) and BSOD's all the time.
naddie Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I had the same issue - turns out the NB is overheating. Easy fix for you to try (what I did): 1) Remove stock thermal pad and replace with AS5 or AS Ceramic for NB. 2) While you're at it, remove that silver ring (the bling bling ring, lol). Less is more here. 3) Set your BIOS to run the NB fan at full speed at a lower temp. (Stock is 55*C, but I lowered it to 48*C). See if that helps.
