adreno Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 My thinking is it's hardware based, because i've now done multiple reformats to fix it. This began right after I messed around with that MBM5 and Smartguardian software. This is a bit of a long shot but I noticed the other day that MBM5 was causing my atitool GPU graphic to stutter while I was OC'g the GPU. Try killing off MBM5 and Smartfan one at a time, and see if that helps.
polarism Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I already reformatted again, so those aren't on the system. Still getting it. In fact, check these videos out (encoded in xvid for the resize file, divx 6 for the divx file, and just the pure stream out of the camera at 11 megs if you don't have codecs): http://www.polarism.com/computer/hangvid/
polarism Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Do you think it might be the video card instead? I can run SOME other games like Diablo 2, Dungeon Seige 2..
qbnb Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 i'm having a similar problem here: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35146 they could be related.
polarism Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I use a diff sound and vid card.. I dunno. My GPU temp doesn't get that high.
Guest thespin Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 What the heck could be causing this? Hey! Don't know where you are but someone just posted THIS: http://www.dfi-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35199
polarism Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 That didn't help me. I found that and tried it. I'd already not installed the IDE SW, and already installed those fixes.. lol.
polarism Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Tried a new PSU (modstream 520). No change. Tried using Windows x64 instead. Nothing, still does it. It has to be either the motherboard, video card, or sound card, or all three, but why does this only happen in Source games?
finagle69 Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 try uninstalling the sound drivers, then take out the sound card. play the game, see if this does anything. x64 is kinda strange sometimes. i'm using x32 and had a problem, but then installed the beta drivers for my sound card and it fixed it. polarism Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 It's NOT x64 that's being strange. This is happening in BOTH operating systems. I've tried EVERY version of driver that exists for my sound card. NOTHING. I cannot even guess what this can be, it's only happening in source games. I'm beginning to think it isn't even a hardware problem if I can play other games..
Reinvented Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Polarism, can you please post your bios settings for me. It's looking to be either a CPU or memory problem. My vote is for memory. So, post it up and we'll see what we can recommend you!
