Is 1T @ 300(or more) possible for 2*512MB TCCD?

Recommended Posts

I spent all day fighting with G.Skill FF's (PC4800 2.5-4-4-8 1T). Haven't got above 274 even when using the exact settings suggested by G.Skill. This memory, along with Geil One, is pretty much the best TCCD out there, so I think it's safe to say that 300MHz is not possible on the nF3. Of course I would LOVE to be wrong, and if anyone has succeeded please post your memory settings!

hi all, i'm using gskill fc (of tccd) on my nF3 ultra-d mobo. my venice can do 310+HTT stable, but the problem is with the ram. i can't get it run 1T @ htt > 275, even with 2T @ 300HTT, i need to settle w/ 2.5-5-4-8 to get it super pi 32M stable (what a waste for a pair of tccd :(). i've tried several setting in the mem. config but still failed. anybody w/ 2*512MB tccd successfully run 300HTT @ 1T mind to share their mem. config settings and the version of bios use? Any input would be much appreciated, thx. ;)

Amazing, G.Skill has value ram too. First off the nf3 board will not support

the same settings as nf4. Why don't you know that? Why did you start this

thread? Is it a RAM thread or a CHIPSET thread? Don't be rediculous that

this nf3 board is anywhere near sensitive to ram. Beyond that, if you want to

"test" G.Skill ram and who knows what value ram you bought, don't try it on

"this" board. Thats right, crap the ram......., na crap the board.

Man, RATED ram is just that, rated ... with exclusions, mostly on boards like

dfi's nf4's. Don't interleave quotes.

You have "value" G.Skill thats all, all it will be, all it ever was !!!

It takes a special single memory controller to achieve 300HTT 2x512mb. When I had my OCZ PC3200 Plat. rev2 last year matched with a Athlon64 3200 I was able to reach the desktop and run sandra at 305HTT but was totally unstable. On that same cpu I could reach 325HTT 1:1 single 512mb, best memory controller I've ever had on a 754 cpu.

Pretty much done with 754 and waiting for the dual Opteron/DFI 939 Expert to go with my new GSKill 1GBLE.

Its even harder to achieve 300HTT with 1mb cache 754's especially the mobiles.

yeah, prolly bios problem. i wish that dfi could do something on this issue. :)

btw, i believe your ff is capable of doing 280 (+/-5) @ 2.5-3-3-7 on this board. 2.5-4-4-8 is max for my fc... ;)

.

Yes, dual core Opterons I didn't know. I'm just sucking up Opteron, sounds

pretty good. Nice LE, a proven performer in any arena!!

Gimme those FF's b4 u hurt urself !!!

xinty, this is the best i can get out of my fc, not so impressive but i gotta live with it. :)

Memtest_255.jpg

EDITED: I run this using 166 divider, it requires 2.8Vdimm compared to 1:1 @ 280 with only 2.6V...

thanks khoo.

2T correct??

i will try to rma my MB cos cant set DQ drive strength at all.

I am using 300HTT and have 2x512mb PQI TCCD sticks with a Venice 3000@2700Mhz.

No special settings, had to use a lot of voltage though 2.9-3.0V.

2.5-4-3-7, 166 divider and yellow slots.

It's not Prime stable for some reason (error after ~1hr) but no BSOD and never crashes. Can play all games, BF2, FEAR, HL2, D3 for hours without a problem.

yup, with divider, we need to loosen the timing as well, pretty sad huh... :P

@xinty:

nope, for 280htt or below, 1T all the way for my fc. i've tried 285, but memtest gimme errors after 1xx%...
