that is why i snuck out and got the 3870X2 card.

it is much easier to pop in a card than to remount the entire PC.

and i can add another when the drivers mature.

besides...

i am loving my X38 board...

Just in case anyone isn't sure how to save a 3DMark score and upload it to ORB later, here is a guide posted by Deanzo over at TRP.

I would suggest saving any results for the War as ORB can have a tendancy to go down at the worst times.

3D01:

After you run the benchmark you will see "Save Project" on the right had side, 2nd button down.

Name your project and click save.

Now to submit that saved result.

Open 3D01 on the PC that has the internet and click on the 5th tab at the top "Online Services" and pick "Submit Saved Result" then pick the one you want to submit.

3D03, 05 and 06 are all but the same:

After you run the benchmark you will see "Save As" on the bottom left.

Now to submit that saved result.

Open 03 or above on the PC that has the internet, right click anywhere on the benchmark screen and click "Submit Saved Result" then pick the one you want to submit.

I hope this helps everyone.

quickie "stock" testing question

my RAM is able to run DDR2-800 @ 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v, and DDR2-800 @ 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2v - am I free to use the tighter timings, or does that somehow break the "stock" rule?

There are still a couple of weeks to post stock scores and you can still grab new hardware during this period. :)

Just don't post a score until you have the hardware config you want to take through to the competitive stage.

Essentially, you can run whatever speeds you want during the 'stock' scoring phase.

The main purpose is to get all the players registered for the main competition phase. :)

would it be beneficial to the team for me to run at the slowest/worst speeds? or does it really not matter? I played around w/your awesome FW calculator some, btw - very nice. :)

I disagree but I could be wrong. Ok for instance if this is the case I am going to run my machine all out the best it will do then if I do not submit another score period I will have a decent score at the end without having to do it but one time? We should have had everyone run all out last year and the people that did not show up scores would have been better at the end...
