Tjj226_Angel Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I am looking for a socket 775 motherboard. I need it to be able to use DDR3 memory (since DDR3 is all I have stockpiled) and I need it to have a few expansion slots since I will be fitting network cards in it, and I would like it to have a sata 2 port on it. I am going to be using it for a router since our stupid actiontek DSL modem is starting to die. So if any of you have any network cards lying around that you need to get rid of, I am your guy. Keep in mind I would like to keep this really cheap. I am pretty much looking for junk that you might have lying around your house. IVIYTH0S Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) I can't help with the board but I believe I have an old PCI ethernet card you can have in my room. (I'll check when I'm done work later this morning) May I ask why a 775/DDR3 board?? That's an odd (and rare even in it's "prime") combo to come by...while not being all that desirable IMHO. El_Capitan Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Well, DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2, no? Probably why...
IVIYTH0S Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) Well, DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2, no? Probably why... I meant more the 775 side...I can't think of any reason why anyone wouldn't sell their 775 CPU (since they still fetch a pretty good price) and get something more efficient/faster that's cheap with easier to come by parts. Unless it's a less desirable 775 chip he has that wouldn't sell or wouldn't be worth trying. then this is the cheapest instant buy I found quickly: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Biostar-P43D3-INTEL-LGA-775-P43-CHIPSET-ATX-Motherboard-GIGABIT-LAN-AUDIO-DDR3-/350675830332?pt=Motherboards&hash=item51a5e8863c Edited January 19, 2013 by IVIYTH0S
ohldboy Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) You are asking for a cheap 775 DDR3 Board which seems a contradiction. There are new and refurbished DDR3 775 boards, and old DDR2 boards. IE newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157337 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157242 or geeks.com http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=DG41RQ-PB&cat=MBB or http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=G41-M7-2R&cat=MBB less than this seems counterproductive when you add shipping. Did you sell odd your DDR2 RAM? Edited January 19, 2013 by ohldboy
Tjj226_Angel Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 The only reason I want DDR3 compatible motherboard is that I actually have a lot of extra DDR3 memory lying around. I don't want to have to buy more memory especially at DDR2 prices these days. Oh, and it isn't rare, it is just more expensive than I would like as a new item. http://www.microcenter.com/product/380270/P5G41T-M_LX_Plus_Socket_775_G41_mATX_Intel_Motherboard

The Smith Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 May I suggest something? I would get an E-350 board. There are many of them fanless and they will be much easier on your electricity bill. If you think this is a good idea, I have an ASUS E35M1-M PRO I need to get rid of, it's
The Smith Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Oddly enough, the "save changes" button of the edit mode does not work... I was going to say that I might be interested in the E8400 if you are in for a trade.
