panjang110 Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 (edited) hi guys, if someone is selling an ES cpu for cheap will you buy it? he is not a scammer and been selling a lot of es chip for last the last few years without any complaint. here the cpu screenshot the only issue i see here is the low turbo speed despite being a high tdp part. ccokeman Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Many of the ES chips that make it to market are at best problematic and will have you chasing your tail trying to figure out the errors. ES chips of old were tightly regulated but it seems there is a glut of them on the market now. ES Chips used to be some of the best samples but no longer as final revisions to the silicon often fix problems found in early and mid run silicon. The best bet is to save your pennies and buy the CPU from a retailer. I know they are expensive but you get a warranty and can purchase additional overclocking protection for a one time no questions asked replacement of the chip. Keep in mind that any ES chip that is put up for sale is stolen property. The ES Chips I have are retained for testing after reviews but belong to the manufacturer. Bosco Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 Frank is correct. ES chips are not to be sold period, Intel has really come down hard on people that sell them. Frank and I both have given away ES chips, giving them away is one thing, selling them is totally different.
