  1. I've been known to be seen runnin around actin as mobile target practice in BF2 from time to time... I hope to see ya round in Xfire and in game:)
  2. Wooo Hoo! DNA, I owe you a pint! Your suggestion to use da DFI floppy has funally allowed me to get Vista installed! I am typing this in Vista right now! Man it sure is purty, but what a system hog... 738Mb of memory and 38 processes.. yikes! Again thanks DNA, your reply has got me up and running!
  3. I for the most part have had very little trouble with the nv firewall. I was not aware of the issues with logging though... I will disable logging and see what happens... thanks for the tip:)
  4. Wow DNA, Thanks so much for posting your install routine. I did everything you did, except my cluster size is 4K and stripe size is 16K, and I didn't use the driver disk supplied with the mobo, but rather the lastest Vista beta drivers from nvidia, and I tried to install it to a 69.1 Gb partition. Funny thing is that Vista told me there were no useable disks detected when I had 50Gb partition at 16K cluster size. As soon as I changed partition to half my RAID array's total size, and set cluster size to 4k, it accepted the partition... As for the vista updates, and all the rest, the install is identical to yours. I tried both 5384 and 5456. I think the first thing I will try is using the drivers that came with the mobo. Because I think that if I mess with the stripe size, I will lose my current XP installation. I REALLY can't afford to do that right now. Resizing the cluster size is easily handled by Disk Director. So again, thanks so much for posting. I will try the mobo drivers and get back to ya:)
  5. Hey Soundx.. long time eh? Ya I am trying to install from XP.. it's the only way I can even get to load the drivers for the nvraid... nforcershq link: http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/vista-beta...=asc&highlight= Everything works just like it should up to the first reboot.. then 0x0000007b. EVERY god damn time. I am soooooooooooooo frustrated.... But it's nice to see ya... and thank you for replyin:)
  6. Well, I can't get Vista to install at all, even following the instructions on AOA / nforcersHQ to the letter. I get a big dirty BSOD 0x0000007b error, which from what I have read, is an IDE issue. This happens with both the 32 bit CPP version and 32 bit 5456. It happens at the same place every time. Right after Vista's first reboot at the grey progress bar scrolling across. I have tried disabling all the IDE channels in da BIOS, I have tried all the nVidia Vista RAID drivers, disabling driver sigs, loading drivers 1 by 1, and so on... I think I have gotten that feckin stop error at least 40 times. I am trying to install Vista to a 60Gb primary partition on my Raptor RAID 0 array, so I can dual boot with XP 32bit. I just want to see what the damn thing looks like. I spent 4 days downloading 5654 via utorrent. Only to be kicked in da teeth at the same place during install. I don't have an IDE HDD to install on, and I can't afford to lose my XP install again. Lots of folks run RAID 0 arrays... my system aint unusual. God I really want to see what Vista is all about, but man, what a pain in the arse. My wife finds it highly amusing that I keep subjecting myself to the BS that is MS Vista... If anyone has the same specs as me, and you were able to install Vista 32 bit, I would be really grateful if you could share you method with me:confused:
  7. Wow, the replies to this question are few and far between..lol I too was wondering, can I move my existing RAID 0 dirves to the Sil controller from the nV controller without losing all the data on the array? I was thinking: Enabling Sil controller in BIOS. Booting to windoze and installing Sil drivers. Removing power from the pc. Moving SATA cables from nv controller to Sil controller. Powering on PC, and hopefully booting to windoze???
  8. Yes, There Is A Risk Of Shorting The Mobo If You Are Not Careful... jUST GO SLOWLY, AND TAKE YOUR TIME AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE
  9. The Nvidia drivers have game specific profiles under "Performance and Quality Settings". In oreder for SLI to run correctly in your applications, you need to set the profile to the application you are trying to run.... Or have you done this already?
  10. Have you installed the latest nForce drivers? And have you installed all your software the way Angry recommends? There is a thread stickied about the recommended way to install your os and software...
  11. Well, I have tried some bizzare things at this point, including re-enabling the mobo speaker... and it seemed to have worked for 5 reboots in a row... but then it decided to show mw who was boss and hung at the DMI pool bit 7 times in a row, after me going into the BIOS every third time to get the CPU out of safe mode... Anyone else have any suggetions? I am truly stuck here...
  12. Damn suspekt:) you da man.. I have been tryin for ages to get the correct values in MBM:) Thanks a million
  13. From what I have read, x64 Widoze has come a long way with regards to stability. The problem seems to lie in that the availability of drivers and software for x64 is not too prolific. Most games still dont support x64, although the numbers are increasing. So I guess it depends on what you want to do on your os...
  14. Still a no go... I have even left reset config data enabled, but it still is randomly hanging at the same spot... this morning it hung and rebooted a total of 7 times before getting to Windoze... Hehe, this is getting to be a real quirky kind of pain in da butt... it has to be something so incredibly simple... cause I dont think the system would pass every single stress test if there was issues with da mem contoller etc etc... But please keep the suggestions coming gang
