NF4 Ultra-D> freezes in games

Yeah that BIOS says 623 but it is a different bios, it is part 510 mixed with 623.

Well that didn't take long, just froze again in Dawn of War.

And it seems like there are a few more people with this problem, not just me.

 

Is there anything left for me to try?

just to add to the info, ive been having this problem with the nvidia drivers supplied with the Nf4 and im having the same problem using 6.66 too.

You could try 2t timing and turn off bank interleave, maybe loosen up your cas settings. You will take a memory performance hit, but it might be worth checking out.

Many problems with the 64bit cpu's seem to be memory related (timings)

Now would be the time to start returning/trying new parts.

 

Are all 4 power connectors plugged into the board?

 

1 A faulty video card can make the pc freeze. (try another video card)

2 Bad power supply (try another power supply)

3 Memory (test in another PC)

4 CPU

5 Board.

 

I feel it is the GFX card or power supply. (I could be wrong) but so far everything that you have tried does not help and the freezes only happen in games.

 

Gaming = heavy GFX card usage + power.

I've already pretty much eliminated gfx card, power supply and RAM as causes.

When I originally postet this thread, I had a 6600GT, Corsair RAM and a Tagan PSU as opposed to what is in my sig now.

 

I originally suspected the gfx card or heat problems, but I am fairly certain it is neither.

Sometimes the games freeze right after loading, not even giving the system a chance to heat up, while nothing happens if I heat the system with prime or the rthdribl hdr gfx demo.

 

All four power connectors are of course connected (this is after all the first thing everybody here gets told to make sure :dog: ).

So its the board or CPU

 

My last suggestion.

- Use only 1 IDE hard drive, place it on IDE cable 1 (master)

- Use the CD drive and place it on IDE cable 2 (master)

- Place the memory modules in the Yellow slots

- Move the GFX card to the other PCIe slot

- Dont use the Audigy card

 

- Clear the CMOS for 10 minutes

- Make sure you put the CMOS jumper back to the save position

 

- Now when you power the PC enter the BIOS.

- Set the memory voltage to 2.8v

- Change only your boot order.

 

- Reinstall windows

Once windows has been installed,

Install DX9C if you need it.

 

install the chipset drivers,

- Do not install the IDE driver

- Do not install the firewall/ network access manager software (NAM)

 

Then restart, install these gfx drivers

Then see what happens.

 

This may seem like a waste of time but give this a try.

I got the same problem like you, I am using X850XT, so I don't think the problem is cause by the VGA card. Hope somebody can tell us what is going on.
