I need your pro advice on memory...

I need some high quality memory. I've been looking into OCZ ram b/c of previous posts. I need on compatible with my 3500 newcastle and my ultra d mobo. I am replacing ram because of an error in prime95 and memtest86.

 

I need something y'all know will WORK FOR SURE. Suggestions wanted! :cool:

 

Plz also give me a link on newegg or something to where i can buy the ram!

I talking to AndyOCZ here, one of the OCZ people on this forum, he recommended me 2 different memorys, based on my criteria.

for the Lanparty NF3 250 is it better to run with 1 stick of 1gb ram then two 512's?

 

I heard it was better performance wise.

 

I also have a pair of 2x256 OCZ 3700 EB's that I am looking to upgrade to 1gb for this board. Since they are out of manufacture and hard to get what would be comparible?

depends on the 512 sticks but generally no. 2x512 of tccd or utt chips will kick the crap out of the best 1 gig stick available.

You will get somewhat higher FSB with a single stick, but dual channel is better.

Depends how high the ghz is, lol. Pass or fail.

 

usually Prime is used to check the CPU, although it will pick up errors caused by other hardware.

 

Memtest86 is the one you will use to test for memory, but that one too, will show errors if there is a CPU problem.

Well, that completely clears up the issue.

 

Memtest is a strict memory related test. The pressure is on the RAM and the memory controller. It simply writes too and reads from the memory compairing the output to the input.

 

prime95 stresses the entire computational chain from CPU to RAM.
