johnrr6 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Thanks Thor!!Your ini didn't include the HD settings, so I imported it from soundx98's ini file. Between the both of you, I now have MBM where I want it What specifically in Sound's ini did you cut'n paste into Thors ini??? I don't see anything in Sound's ini file Does SMART have to be turned on in the bios?? I have two Hitachi SATA II in Raid 0 and am curious as to the temps. Thanks----John
Flybye Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 I'm sure each harddrive will have its own sensor number, but what I copied-n-pasted from one ini to the other was: T4 Name=HD T4 Sensor=437 T4 Tray=0 T4 Colour=clMaroon T4 Tray Colour=clBtnFace T4 Alarm High Fixed Value=1 T4 Alarm High=1 T4 Alarm High Relative Sensor=1 T4 Alarm High Relative Value=20 T4 Alarm Low=0 T4 Alarm High Tolerance=70 T4 Alarm Low Tolerance=5 T4 Compensation=0 T4 Wave Path= T4 Play Wave=0 T4 EXE Path= T4 Start EXE=0 T4 Display On Dashboard=1 T4 Display Scale=80 T4 Display Type=1 T4 EXE Switch= T4 Start SHDN=0 T4 SHDN Switch= T4 SHDN Delay=10 T4 Use In Log=0 T4 Use In ToolTip=0 T4 Send Email=0 T4 Meter Color=clRed T4 Meter Font Name=Arial T4 Meter Font Size=14 T4 Meter Font Style=0 T4 SysLog=1 As far as finding out the sensor numbers for your harddrives, I'll let the smart boyz here figure that one out for you

johnrr6 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Mine has always been on. Thanks----Mine is off by default----am trying to determine any negatives to performance and overclocking with SMART set to on I'm running a RAID0 config... Sensor 423 is probably SMART temperature Wonder if I can get both drives to report-----John
HousE RaT Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Can MBM monitor VIdeo card Temps? OR what utility canwe use for that? yes, you'll have to use one of the beta atitools (24 or above) to get your XL temps.... then you can set up atitool to send the temps to MBM........
soundx98 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 SMART must be ENABLED in Bios for HDD Temp reading. It WILL NOT read the temps of a RAID array. (Can't) You can use ATITool like Housecat said ot the latest ATITrayTool. (Dif programs) I haven't found a way top send the readings to MBM5 on the NF3/NF4 boards. ATI Tray Tools by Ray Adams http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/ ATITools by WiZzard http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ If you are on a DFI NF2 (doesn't seem to work with NF3/NF4) send GPU temp to sensor 5 in ATI tool and GPU Env temp to sensor 6. select custom in MBM5 on sensor 5 & 6 and relabel. The DRAM/VDimm reading only works for 3.2 max Jumper setting, not the 4v+ Jumper setting. If you really like MBM5 it certainly wouldn't hurt to send Alex Van Kamm a few bucks via PayPal http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ Carl
johnrr6 Posted April 10, 2005 Posted April 10, 2005 Not only that----but I had to use the Hitachi Feature Tool v.1.97 to turn on SMART on the drives themselves.... And it still didn't work.... Because you are right----it just doesn't work on RAID0 I've got ATItool sending both temps on my X850XT PE to MBM----works good A thread in the ATItool forum tells you how to set it up. I just set hard drive temps with an estimate------used the system fan speed (which is basically temp controlled from the bios) to set up a fan speed= Temp Once I get the table tweaked a bit I can post it if people want. My HDD temps are off maybe 1-2C from what the Hitachi Feature Tool v.1.97 is telling me. The avanced section in help tells you how to do it. I have a MatrixOrbital MX2 and will fool around with it once I get my taxes done. I just LOVE to do taxes....... SMART must be ENABLED in Bios for HDD Temp reading. Flybye Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 .......If you really like MBM5 it certainly wouldn't hurt to send Alex Van Kamm a few bucks via PayPal http://mbm.livewiredev.com/...... How many of us do you think it would take for him to come up with a full update?
soundx98 Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 From Alex's "it's over" post. So why cancel MBM ? There are several reasons for this: The industrie itself, it is getting harder and harder to get any good info from companies, Abit and the Uguru was a good example but you can alsmost put any other name in the list, getting info from ATI, VIA, SiS, Asus is as good as impossible, and so I depend more and more on MBM users to help me with info and it is just plain frustrating to keep sending mails to companies asking for info and getting no or a BS reply back. Time, I spend about an hour a day answering mail and answering the forum, the FAQ does not stop many users from still mailing me with the same old questions. This is not just the users fault, the design of MBM could have been better but when I started it everything was pretty simple and the core of MBM is simply old, making changes to it requires a lot of work and changes. Keeping up with the sensor world, many GFX cards come out with sensor chip, I tried the plugin method in the hope that users would pick that up, a few did but overal it was not a big success, so to keep MBM up to date I would need to do the GFX stuff myself, wich means I need GFX cards. The donation I get for MBM does not make up for that I am afriad Motivation, 7.5 years is a long time...... Now to answer the mails I will get about this post: no it is not a mather of money, making MBM payware (which I said many years ago would never happen) does not change the above no you can not get the source code, there is to much in there I got via NDA and I will not violate that seems like quite the kewl dude. Flybye Posted April 11, 2005 Posted April 11, 2005 Poor guy. Just seems like a combination of different frustrations that made him quit on it. Well, all we really need is for it to work on DFI boards, right? Maybe if we got the admins here that work at DFI to come up with some answers for him....and maybe if he did a small update for us DFI boyz.....maybe I'm just dreaming too much LOL
