upok Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 So I get my new q6700 and have noticed that there is always one core that runs anywhere from 5 to 9 degrees cooler than the other three. I thought it probably had something to do with hsf contact(convex or concave hsf, ihs) but it's not always the same core. It could be any one of the cores, 0-3. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which core it will be either. Is this normal?
Shadowfactor Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 yes, this is normal. All it means it that that core isn't being used as much as the others....

Bleeble Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I've got one core that's always 3-4C cooler than everything else, no matter how many times I reseat or adjust my waterblock.
kaabob Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) I have the same problem too, but both Core 0 and 1 run hotter than Core 2 and 3. Should I take off my HSF and redo the thermal paste, or did I just get unlucky and get stuck with two cores from different lines? philbrown23 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 no matter what you do on EVERY multi core the cores are like that my duo has core 0 at 33 and core 1 at 30 so thats just the way it is man.
