get_saif Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Where have you seen it for that cheap? I've seen as low as $60.GPU's always run hotter than CPU's. It's not abnormal to have your GPU running 75C on load. so that temp is not gona harm the gpu? wat if the temp of cpu is 65 to 70 on load? will it reduce its life spam
Comp Dude2 Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 70 is a bit hot, keep it <65 i would say.

ClayMeow Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 I would probably invest in a better hsf, but you'll probably be fine. They say even 1 degree cuts the life of a processor, but most people don't keep processors for 10 years anyways, so I doubt you'd notice any difference. cchalogamer Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 70 is a bit hot, keep it <65 i would say. Overall good advice. I personally like to keep below 60, but it wont die short term with a LITTLE abuse
Ruisu Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 73.2 sounds kinda hot to me. I'd imagine intel meant to say "73.2C is the hottest the chip can go before immediate damage starts". Kinda like hearing damage, your ears can stand really loud noises once in a while with no ill effects, but prolonged moderately loud noises will cause hearing loss. Its the same with computer chips, except they don't suffer hearing loss, just shortened lifespan, (and maybe instability?). I remember hearing that 50C is about the hottest you want a chip running for prolonged periods of time, but then that was a generation or so back that I paid much attention, so it may be different now, but I doubt its that high. Bleeble Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 yeah..... but I still have trouble believing that having a processor running @ 73.2C 24/7 will not shorten its life. Short term, yeah, I think it will be fine. Long term, I doubt it. I don't think there's any question about whether those temps will shorten the processor's life. It's just a question of how drastic the change will be.
Ruisu Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 But why would Intel make a revision like that and publish it if it weren't true? It's pretty clear that each revision allows higher temps: B2 - 60.
