So you're saying HK speakers are used? Or are you just freely associating? The Harman group aka Harman International is made up of Infinity, JBL, AKG, ML, Lexicon, Madrigal, Crown, Soundcraft and several others I'm not remembering. I could find no information on which branch from which the speakers for Lexus came.

Yeah, pretty cool huh? It's part of the Harman Specialty Group. Mind if I ask what receiver you've got? I'm gonna be in the market again soon...

Mine is a few years old...its the AVR230. It's a great reciever & i have no complaints about it. :)

if you're looking for a good HT forum..i'd recommend here

HUH?

No I just said "Harman Kardon" because I thought Harman was Harman Kardon...

I was unaware that Harman had so many brands...

i would never trade my vintage Klipsch setup for anything Bose makes...

i may have more invested than a Bose system, but the Bose are not even close.

my speakers are over 20 years old.

i have 4 Klipsch KG4's, a Klipsch RC7 Center, and a KSW 100 subwoofer.

i am driving them with a Denon AVR-3806.

i have never heard anything Bose makes that even comes close.

some speakers are like some women...

they just mellow gracefully with age.

My dad went out and bought a Bose "surround sound" system a few years ago. It's junk. He paid way too much for it, and I have absolutely no doubt that I could build a MUCH better system for less money.

Most people that like Bose say that it sounds very good. I'm sure it does to them. That's because most people have very little to compare it to. Of course it sounds better than the built in TV speakers. Of course it sounds better than your Aiwa boombox. I could make a surround sound system out of clock radio speakers and it'd sound good if you've never heard surround sound before. It's about side-by-side comparison, and that's where Bose fails.

If you're not an audiophile and you can't tell the difference, that's fine, but you're still paying too much for Bose. Most people are willing to pay too much because they see a Bose surround sound as a status symbol. And as the article said, it is... to housewives.

I had no idea Harman Group consisted of so many brands either. Hell I hadn't heard of Mark Levinson until a year ago. And the only reason I knew of JBL was because a lot of the HP/Compaq computers come with them (the best speakers I've ever heard in retail store prebuilt laptops). And to be honest... B&O is new to me as well... :( .

they do indeed own a TON of brands. (click on the brands pull-down menu on the upper right)

and don't worry about not knowing B&O...unless you're into the audio scene...there are a lot of brands that would be new to you.

are just a few ;)

i have all paradigm stuff minus the reciever which is an onkyo tx-sr701

i have mini-monitor fronts, a CC-150 center, a ps1200 sub and i cant remember the model number of the rears.

i amp still impressed by the sound of them. what i find quite funny sometimes is people that claim to know quite a bit about sound stuff then when i show them my speakers they say "what the hell are these paradidgems?" no one i really know knows its actually pronounced "paradime" LOL they think because they have never heard of them that they must suck......they think that until they are cranked.

EDIT: omg i just got to lookin at some of paradigms new stuff....i have the lower end of their stuff. some of their front L&R speakers go for several thousand WOW

and im a noob....i have monitor-3's as fronts and not the mini-monitors that i thought.i also have a cc-370 center..i have the cc-150 in my room. and i went and checked the rears. they are adp-370's

thats because if they haven't seen in in BB or CC then it must be bad. A lot of people claim to be into audio but they really don't know jack. (which now that i think about it, isn't a problem only in the audio world)
