wanksta Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Since the neo4 has pci-e i need to get a pci-e card, does the 6600GT out preform the 9800 pro? if the 6600GT is not a gooe PCI-E pick what would be for under $150?
Blue_cow Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 I would haev to say go for the 6600 due to its SLi abbilities. if you're into that kinda think of course

MasterRex862 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Well.... If your motherboard is PCI-e, you cant get a 9800pro anyway. >_<
oralpain Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 No such thing as a PCI-E 9800pro. For PCI-E cards, the X800 is a better deal than the 6600GT. They are usually less expensive and faster. If you don't have a new motherboard yet, get one that does not support SLI or crossfire and save yourself soem money. If done alot of research and compairison and a single card is far more worth while in the long run. The only way SLI is really a good choice is if you ar elooking to build the fastest thing you can and go for two of the best cards you can. No point in getting two 6600GTs, one 6800GT is faster at the resolutions and setting it will probably be used at. No point in getting two 6800GTs/6800Ultras, one 7800GTX is faster and less expensive at the settings it would conceivably be used at. wanksta Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Exactly the reason i am not going to ge an SLI set up i kno that there is no such thing as a 9800 pro pci-e, but i was wondering if the 6600gt would preform better than a 9800 pro basically comparing the preformance of my sig comp to this one: and i am going to get amd64 set up w/ msi neo4 (non sli) and 3000+ venice and 6600gt?????????? under construction the x800 is a better deal than the 6600gt? hummmm
swifty11212 Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 x800 series is the best bang for the buck. just dont get the x800 se.
Guest Flashstar Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 The x800se is actually a rebranded pci -e 9800pro.
oralpain Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Yes a 6600GT is faster than a 9800pro. Yes a plain X800 is faster than a 6800GT. Price is the same too. 6600GT = 8(pipelines) x 500MHz(core clock) = 4.0 billion texels per second (fill rate) 6600GT = 1000MHz (DDR) x 128-bit (memory bus width) = 16.0 GB/s (memory bandwith) X800 = 12 (pipelines) x 392Mhz (core clock) = 4.7 billion texels persecond (fill rate) X800 = 700MHz (DDR) x 256-bit (memory bus) = 22.4 GB/s (memory bandwidth) There are other factors that determine perfromance, but fill rate and memory bandwidth are the biggest ones, by far, and the X800 has a sginificant lead over the 6600GT.
