DECwakeboarder Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 The XP-120 does not fit on the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum without bending some capacitors. I personally don't want to do that, so I would get the XP-90. 404321[/snapback] Have you done this? That's my first question because I have and I didn't have to bend any caps along with many other people who use an XP-120 with the Neo2 plat. I believe the very 1st revision of the neo2 plat was the only one that had that problem.
Verran Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I JUST opened my Neo2 Plat up and installed my XP120 roughly a week ago. I did have to bend a single cap. Not far, and it worked fine, but I did have to bend it, and it wasn't the most calming experience in my life. I was hoping that the new revs of the board would not require a bend, as that's what some people have suggested, but that does not appear to be true. I ordered it from newegg, and it came with bios 1.4 already on it, so I doubt it was an old one that just didn't get sold right away. That being said, I would order both pieces again given the chance.
hardnrg Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 take a look around at the oc's people have on the winchesters and newcastles... a lot of the higher ones are the winchesters on the neo2 with tccd ram...
BabyBalrog Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 The winchesters do have an improved L2 cache controller, but they start off at a lower clock speed ( 3000+ 3200+ ) i would say that in general the winchesters are better.
