Hl2 Mem Problem

what the heck, ive just tried 2 plat hl2 4 the first time and i keep getting Quote: the instruction at " 0x241f8977 " reference memory at " 0x00e8f5c0 "

the memory could not b read.

what does that mean ???????

i've gotten that a couple of times, too...but i also get it when i'm not laying halflife. Then again, i've got crappy ram (see sig). I was going to run memtest to see if there were any probs.

i get it too and i have all new good hardware, motherboard, cpu, and ram......i think it's just like cs source, it will need patching soon

there is a fix i think on the steamforums. and dont worry you and about a billion other people are getting it.

i havent been able to get in the forums since the hl2 release

seems ive been able 2 get past the problem by lowering my oc mem. timmings.

so far so good.

fyi, if ur ocing ur mem. try lowering ur mem. speeds seeemed 2 help 4 me.

The fix on the steam forums is only for HL1... not 2.

 

I have the error also and am trying to find otu what exact file it is so that i cna either delete it, replace it, or just plain fix it.

trust me guys, its either...

1. your oc, lower it, (that was my prob, posted same thread)

2. your memory

THATS IT lol,

 

if computer restarts its your psu

 

swap some different memory, or declock,
