wcpyro Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Winpatrol: http://www.winpatrol.com A useful security program that monitors startup, registry changes, cookies, and is generally good to have around. XOBlite: http://xoblite.net A program based of of blackbox for windows(an alternate shell utility), but with way more features and easy plugin loading. If you liked blackbox, but found it difficult to configure, try this out(although there is still .rc file editing involved) shellwm: http://shellwm.sourceforge.net A program to skin windows, but you don't need admin rights to install. Very little memory usage, and comes with some nice built-in skins. bblean: http://bb4win.sourceforge.net/bblean A program similar to XOBlite, but more configurable. I was scared away from it at first, because it was *extremely* ugly, just download the styles from xoblite then use this. Its faster and more stable. upx: http://upx.sourceforge.net A compression program, only different. It compresses exe files and other executables, with a file size of about 1/3 the original. Also, it keeps the original icon and has no overhead(actually it makes some programs run faster). No need to decompress it, just run the exe and it will work like normal. FreeRAM XP Pro: http://yourwaresolutions.com/products.html A program that frees up extra ram that other programs forgot to release on their own. It lets you configure it for aggressive or passive ram freeing, and helps to speed you up quite a bit.

ClayMeow Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 K-Lite Code Packs: http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm#klmcodec A bunch of codec packs to choose from (the most inclusive being the "Full" pack which contains both encoding and decoding codecs) It's still updated despite it's namesake (kazaa-lite) going down the tubes, and it's the most comprehensive I've ever come across. Forget downloading all your codecs seperately; I've never had to download anything after this. (scroll down the page and under "K-Lite Code Pack" you will see a lengthy list of all the codecs in the packs...if you want anything in the red text, you must install the FULL codec pack)
