legit Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 hey all, im looking to get a maxtor 7200 80GB but i found that there are two series the diamondmax and the ultra series, i've heard some good stuff about the ultra but im not sure which one to get, with all of the positive marketing towards both of them i can't actually tell wich one is better, can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks - legit
GTSticky Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Personally, I'd go with the Hitachi ( http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-145-049&depa=1 ) or the Western Digital ( http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-144-122&depa=1 ) They are both superior drives and carry a 3-year warranty. Note that the Hitachi is a SATA, so you'd need a converter. I have a couple extra and would sell you one for 10 bucks or they are 20 at Fry's. I couldn't find a Maxtor drive with over a 1 year warranty, perhaps the Ultra's do. If I was forced to buy Maxtor, I'd choose the ultra. henbenley Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I have a 120gb maxtor that I got a while back FAR and it works alright, but its definitly slower than my old 80gb western digital hard drive, even though there were the same speeds. So I would go with a western digital hard drive. I will never buy a maxtor drive again (unless FAR)
