InvaderTrax Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 Alright, I've been using Pentium 1 hsf's on my video cards for a while now (on my old 9600 and my 9700 Pro) and after a few months, the bearings seem to get messed up and they make a horrible screaming noise (eventually stop working). Is it bad for the fan to be upside down for that long? (not like I can do anything about it...)
suchuwato Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 i spose so, as gravity is pulling the fan off of it's bearings a bit
Some_Guy_ Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 But the design of the fan (IE, blowing downward) forces the blades away from the frame anyway. I think it's simply a function of the age of the fan, unless you've been buying new 50mm fans to replace them.
InvaderTrax Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 I actually have. I get 50mm's from CompUSA that say 'Good for 50k hours.' Thankfully, I bring them back and they let me exchange it
suchuwato Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 just buy a large heatsink for it - that'll solve your problems
