timoty Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I have just aquired my first ever AMD. I have always had Intel (and still do on my main RIG). Now I must play What is the average temperature of an AMD 1600+? What is the maximum temperature before it goes pooof What is the maximum temperature I should allow it to hit before I back down? Thanks Hey I figured I can compare the two unless I 've actually played with both!
exeter_acres Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Enjoy the ride!!! lets see.... 1. depends on cooling, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. (get my point?) 2. I believe they are rated for 85c 3. Most people around here are a tad anal (with me at the head of the class!) about temps, so I would say, try and shoot for staying under 50c full load.... what Mobo? timoty Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Thanks for the info....the system is not in front of me but the board is an ASUS....can't remember the model number. Believe it or not someone through the board and the CPU in the garbage......and I just happened to be humple enough to pick it out. The only thing wrong.....the power supply was shot. Life is good. spathalogic Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 3. Most people around here are a tad anal... ... just a tad?
Marine Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 argh thats so unfair i wish people would do that around here but most people here like to save parts.
timoty Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 So if a person weren't "anal" what is the highest they would want to venture into.....is 60c to high?
exeter_acres Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 60 would be when I would start looking for better cooling, but in all honesty that is still a normal temp... big box (dell, gateway, etc. etc.) run in the 60+ range all the time but if you plan on overclocking, then cooler temps are a bit better... spathalogic Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 I'd say 65C MAX!

swifty11212 Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 my comp runs at anverage of 70c full load i belive, and no problems of ne sort, had dis rig for 2 years :-\
ClayMeow Posted August 27, 2004 Posted August 27, 2004 I'd say 65C MAX! that's what i would say BUT, like exeter said, at that point, i'd also look into better cooling, or lowering the OC a tad. I dunno where you're at, but if you're in the US, keep in mind the summer is winding down, so you should experience cooler temps soon anyways
