lilkev715 Posted August 17, 2004 Posted August 17, 2004 Q: If my SATA hard drive has both types of power connectors (molex and SATA), will either make a difference? A: No, they both work fine. Q: Is there any major performance difference between SATA and PATA? A: With the exception of Western Digital Raptors, there is virtually no real-world performance difference between a SATA drive vs. a PATA drive (as long as the drive specs are the same, just a different interface). Some SATA hard drives use a PATA to SATA bridge chip that allows the drive to be used on a SATA interface, but it reality the internals are of the PATA type. SATA has a higher theorhetical (but not real world) transfer rate.
