Nyt's next gen PC

Hello everyone ! It's been a while since I posted here, thought I'd post my PC that's nearly "next-gen ready".
Some of you may remember how I used to upgrade like crazy back in '11-'13 but I can assure you that doesn't happen anymore

11 months ago my PC was :
Asus Strix 1080Ti
4770k at 4.5Ghz with a Corsair H105
2 x 8Gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 2400MHz DDR3
ASUS Maximus VI Hero
Samsung 850 Pro 256Gb SSD, Samsung 850 Evo 1Tb SSD and Seagate 2Tb HDD
Cooler Master Storm Trooper case
A bunch of different case fans - some Cooler Master, some Corsair AF120s, some SP120s, an ML120 or two.
Dell S2740L 1920x1080 60hz 27 inch monitor.
Corsair AX860i

I have been upgrading things gradually in anticipation for the "next-gen" games that will arrive after the PS5/Xbox Series X are released and I've realized that I have ended up with almost a completely different PC.

My PC today, 19 October 2020
MSI Gaming X Trio RTX3080 10Gb, with the MSI support bracket.
9900k at 5Ghz, 1.285v with a Corsair H105 in Push/Pull with Corsair ML120 fans.
2 x 16Gb Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 overclocked to 3400MHz CL17, with Corsair Vengeance Airflow cooler.
ASUS Z390-E Strix Gaming motherboard
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1Tb NVME with Cryorig Frostbit M.2 cooler and Micron 1300 2Tb SSD
Corsair 780T case
Case fans - 2 x Corsair ML120 on the bottom, 4 x ML120 on the H105, 3 x ML120 on the top, 1xML140 on the rear
Dell S2719DGF 2560x1440 144hz 27 inch G-Sync compatible monitor.
Corsair AX860i

The end-goal was to not have to upgrade/change anything for about 3 years, let's see if that works lol

Updated photos with the RTX3080 !

Like you pointed out, the computer is almost completely different. I guess the upgrade part didnt work lol.

As for memory, it can be hit or miss if it overclocks. Really depends on the memory type, not the brand. Patriot has some good Viper Steel 4400 16GB for $125 right now.

Coming back to this, it turns out the memory was faulty which was one of the reasons why it didn't overclock at all.

RMA'd it and the supplier replaced it with Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200CL16 which turned out to be Samsung B-Die.
Managed to get it from 3200MHz 16-19-19-36 2T to 3400 17-21-21-39 1T at 1.4v which is not great but not terrible since its a little bit more bandwidth at a similar latency.

Now I'm focusing on ensuring the CPU and memory overclocks are rock solid stable.

After that, all that's left is waiting till Ampere so I can get closer to 144FPS for Assassins Creed Valhalla and enjoy some Ray Tracing and DLSS 2.0 in Cyberpunk 2077
