Guest_Jim_* Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 When Windows 8 launched, a lot of people were exceptionally displeased with the removal of the traditional Start menu. Now Windows 10 has brought it back, but not quite like it was in Windows 7 and prior versions of the OS, with the focus is more on apps, accessed by tiles. If you want the classic Start menu back though, there is an option thanks to Stardock and its now officially released Start10 application. Start10 does what Start8 did before, and brings back the classic Start menu, along with a number of customizations. Folders are returned to the Start menu, so you can sort programs yourself instead of going through an alphabetical list, and the search function, shown on the Windows 10 Task bar, can be put back into the Start menu as well. Start10 can be purchased for $4.99, but you can also try it for free for 30 days. get_saif Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 hmmm, why pay when you can remove the cortana from taskbar and unpin all the apps from the start (metro style). Kinda brings back the classic view and you can manipulate the settings. But again!!!

Guest_Jim_* Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Personally it's just the folders back to the Start menu I would want. Everything else I'm fine with in Windows 10.

slick2500 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Am I the only one who doesnt really use the start menu?
DanTheGamer11 Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 No I don't really use it either, right clicking for control panel and other stuff + desktop icons did everything I wanted it to in 8.1(and faster), probably why Windows 10 doesn't feel that different to me

Phil Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) I use IOBit Start Menu 8 on Win 8, and the website says it is compatible with 10. I've always liked it, and it's zero $. Classic Shell is another I like, also 10 compatible. Edited August 18, 2015 by Phil
El_Capitan Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 The Start Menu has always been useful as a power user in Windows 7. Windows 10 still has quirks that I don't like, but it's mostly usability issues.
