gebraset Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 The highly anticipated GeForce GTX TITAN X has been in the news quite a bit lately, especially with its involvement in powering VR demos from Valve, Oculus, and Epic Games at the Game Developers Conference just last week. Now, it looks like some early performance numbers for the incredibly powerful NVIDIA graphics card have been released. According to the graphs, which portray performance numbers from 3DMark11, an overclocked GeForce GTX TITAN X scores close to a Radeon R9 295X2 in multiple tests. While at stock speeds, which include a 1002MHz core clock and a 7GHz effective memory clock, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X easily beats out graphics cards like the GIGABYTE GTX 980 G1 GAMING, the SAPPHIRE Vapor-X R9 290X 8GB, and the GeForce GTX TITAN BLACK, as expected. While the GeForce GTX TITAN X looks impressive, especially if it happens to retail at $999 like most consumers are hoping for, it is important to remember that the numbers presented in the graphs are the first performance figures of the soon-to-be-released card. I only really play Battlefield 4 at the moment, but i was playing Archeage Online, DayZ, Rust, H1Z1, Guild Wars 2, and I played some other current titles... If so, it's packing a Maxwell GPU and 12GB of VRAM, but not a whole lot else is known right now. Have to wait until Tuesday at the earliest for full specs. But one thing is for certain, if you do not play demanding games, a titan is certainly not the thing for you No, I don't, because according to my little FPS indicator in the top-right corner of my screen I've never gone below 60 FPS in BF4, and all my settings are on ultra (or high if ultra is N/A). Only point I was trying to make initially is that you don't need a $1,000 card to play games with decent FPS. More to the point, I personally wouldn't spend my money for that functionality. If I had a 144MhZ monitor and played at crazy resolutions then yeah it's worth it... but I'm completely happy with my 1920x1080 60Mhz monitor and 60+ fps. If ya honestly don't believe what I'm tellin' ya, I'll gladly make a video with shadowplay showing my settings and FPS counter...
