wildman2 Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Which would be better for folding?
RealNeil Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) What is the capability of your Mainboard's PCI-E slots? X16 by X16 by X16? X8 by X8 by X4? Depending on your total PCI-E bandwidth and how it's laid out in the PCI-E slots, One X-16 card may out-do three less powerful cards. If the slots are optimal, I would guess that the three R9-270's would prevail. EDIT: just looked at your system specs and your board does X16 by X16 by X8. I would get the three R9-270's. Waco Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 Regardless of which is better for folding I'd get a 290 with a custom cooler over essentially three 7870s.
ir_cow Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 I'm with waco on this one. You are going to be happier with a 290.
SpikeSoprano Posted January 4, 2014 Posted January 4, 2014 +1 on above, why deal with driver problems with 3 cards when one will work fine.

wildman2 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 The Sapphire one seems to work pretty good.Cool i'm partial to Sapphire anyway.Do you know when the more custom pcb's and cooling solutions are comming out?The tri x does seem to work the best at cooling. It just went to the top of the list.
