sword_fish Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 i was thinking to upgrade my monitor soon (20" samsung P20501600x1440) and i'm torn between these 2 monitors both @ 1920 x 1080 60hz 5ms which fits my budget; LG 23EA53V-P @ PHP 8,500 or LG E2442V-BN @ PHP 8,999 it's for purely gaming what would be the best somewhat i need which any of these 2 given monitors can give. but looks like i'm leaning with the 24" TN due to obvious size difference with not so much price gap @ 400 bucks. so it's 23" IPS vs 24" TN what made me confused, your help would be appreciated.. thanks! 560Ti twinfrozr II my GPU btw. IVIYTH0S Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 The IPS would probably look nicer and I doubt you'd really notice the inch less as much as the difference in panel technology
ir_cow Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 The IPS would probably look nicer and I doubt you'd really notice the inch less as much as the difference in panel technology +1 IPS look much nicer and like every monitor is like less than 8ms so it's not a problem in gaming. sword_fish Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 though they say TN is much faster than IPS hmm.. given they're both @ 5ms anyway.... which looks nicer seems to go now. will disregard an inch gain then.
bp9801 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 TN is faster in some cases, but it looks a lot poorer. IPS has better overall quality, and sure, maybe the refresh rate doesn't quite match some TN panels, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Refresh rates under 8ms aren't going to be noticeable anyway, and some people maybe even 12ms and under. So yes, go with the LG IPS monitor. Little bit cheaper but a lot better in terms of panel quality.
sword_fish Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 clearly the 23" IPS wins here , now i'm just waiting for the cash to go. thank you all guys, your help are really appreciated

Seriously though IPS all the way. how i liked your korean monitor too waco. it's more than half the price cheaper as compared with the branded ones what we can get locally, look here but it's my luck that's i dont want to gamble getting that 27" at eBay. glad you're amongst the lucky ones who got it without any problems at all. how i hate doing RMA things and doing it over seas (if there's any) could be pain in my @ss so did with my pocket thanks for the heads up man
sword_fish Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) what do you think about the Asus VX239H? i can get it as low @ PHP 7,999 (much cheaper than LG's 23" IPS @ 8,500) but strange i can't find any reviews with it do AH-IPS are better than IPS? or every IPS made today are all AH-IPS hence without the AH prefix? LG and the rest doesn't have that with theirs because...please help me out Edited September 21, 2013 by sword_fish
bp9801 Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 AH-IPS is the newest and basically one of the best IPS panels that LG makes. Better color accuracy, higher resolutions, and other things like that. Based on S-IPS, I believe. That ASUS monitor you listed is basically the new model of the MX239H, just with the stand and bottom edge going from silver to black. The MX is/was a very good monitor, so I think the newer VX version should be just as good. Not sure yet until some places get it in for reviews, but I think it'd be one to go with.
