Erosannin Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 My second rig has this Graphics card and I've managed to increase the core to 1100MHz (base of 900) and the GDDR5 to 1400MHz (base of 1250). I don't know if any of you guys can help me to OC this card higher by any way as this is the max I was able to reach for the moment. Black64 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 That's already quite the OC. You would have to get that under water to get better a OC.
Erosannin Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 It doesn't overheat at all. I got very good air flow and it idles at 30 the max heat it went to is 59 degrees. I don't think the temperature is an issue here Any other Idea as I've seen many HD7950 hit 1150MHz on core (even 1200MHz but those are golden chip) and 1600MHz on GDDR5 without being under water. ccokeman Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 My 7950s have not gotten that high. Around 1150 was the max I saw.
Erosannin Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Hey ccoke, how did you manage to reach that high on the Core?
ccokeman Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Voltage! I'm pretty sure I hurt one of them since it would not do that speed again reliably. 1100/1575 is a pretty good clock for an air cooled card. This is what I could do with them originally. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx_sapphire_hd7950_3gb/6.htm
VaporX Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 (edited) Your gonna have to start pushing the core voltage to get higher. Be careful with that as you can damage the card. ccokeman you ever test to see how much core vs memory speed effects performance? I have seen some people saying that they get higher cores with the stock memory and better performance. Erosannin Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I'm pretty sure a GPU Core with raw power returns more performance benefits than increasing the GDDR5 speed too.
ccokeman Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Its a combination of the two clock speeds.
IVIYTH0S Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I feel like higher resolutions would benefit greater from the memory speed.
Erosannin Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Is there a good vBios that you suggest me to flash over the stock one to achieve better performance?
d6bmg Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Firstly it's already a very good overclock. You should be happy with that. And talking about better vbios, I should suggest you to stick with the stock one as you have already got a stable OC with the card.
