Lhiannon Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Ok team, looking at options for a buddy of mine. He currently has an Asus 6850, and is looking to upgrade. Budget is 300 or less. would he be better suited buying something new, or getting another 6850 for cross fire? Also, he is using a ASRock 970 Extreme3 mobo, any conflicts with that? Thanks in advance...
SpikeSoprano Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 imo he should get a 7950 if he wants to upgrade and skip some of the hassel that comes with crossfire.

Lhiannon Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Can the 7950 run three screens? If not, what would I need to make that work?
IVIYTH0S Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Can the 7950 run three screens? If not, what would I need to make that work? Gaming or just using three screens?
Lhiannon Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 If it will game on all three, so much the better. He would AT LEAST want it to run three screens while gaming on one of them.
Black64 Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 You really need CF to run 3 screens. I ran 3 with one 7950 and it had some major slow downs(Burnout Paradise, Skyrim and Grid 2). When I got my 2nd 7950 it solved that.

Bosco Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 For the extra $10 he can grab a 7970. There is a rebate for $20 so he is only putting out $10 more after its all said and done. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008
