HeyYoWL Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Hey guys because of tangled wires and my own laziness I think the 2 USB 2.0 ports I was using for my mouse and keyboard on the back of my motherboard are now probably warped. The wires were sorta tight for a while when I was using it and randomly today the sound that Windows makes when you plug in and unplug a new USB device kept playing. Finally both the keyboard and mouse stopped working. I tried plugging them into a different usb port and sure enough it works. Is there any way to fix this sort of thing or am I better off just forgetting about it?
DanTheGamer11 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I'm not sure if I can help... but PICTURES PLZ!
wevsspot Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Yep, pics would be great. In most situations the USB hub is soldered onto the motherboard. It might be possible to repair it depending on what is actually broken. You might be able to re-solder the connections if the posts aren't broken. If the posts are broken it could be a loss if you can't find a replacement USB hub.

HeyYoWL Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Ah. I don't have pictures because I'm at work but looking at the back of the case last night it looked fine. But when I plug in both my mouse and keyboard in to those 2 ports the LEDs on both flash on and off. It sounds like more work than its worth as I've never had good soldering skills and I don't want to unplug everything and take it all apart over 2 USB ports. I guess the PCI card is the way to go. =\ Thanks guys, I figured as much.
d6bmg Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 You can replace USB modules, but the sucess will depend on your knowledge & experience of doing that. And there are many other simpler options.
