ir_cow Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 doesn't it have to be exactly the right size. they aren't all the same.
kyfire Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Auto parts stores have a large selection of o-rings (you'd be surprized at how many o-rings are in a car. Just take the old one with you to match.
El_Capitan Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 An O-ring on a CPU block?
ir_cow Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I duno if i trust a o-ring for a car in a cpu block. I was hoping someone knew where i could find a o-ring online for the water block.
kyfire Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Well, o-rings in the AC on your car hold pressures of over 100psi and fuel line o-rings hold anywhere from 50 to 100+ psi. So, IMHO they should work find in a computer cooling system.
ir_cow Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 hmm, well i could do that if its my last resort. It's not my water block so if I take it apart I have to fix it by the end of the day. thats why i wanted to order a o-ring online but all i can find is a top block repacement for $20. AkakmanH Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Actually, either Ace, Lowes or Home Depot would probably be your best bet. They all have a large selection of o-rings
Stonerboy779 Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Automotive quality o-rings are likely to be better than what us stock as they have to deal with greater extremes if temp and pressure. Also with a hundred and one different sizes and thickness at only a few cents each its too easy.
SpikeSoprano Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 +1 on auto o rings, they withstand a lot more pressure than any pc water block, just take the old one with you for a size match.
