90sgamer Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/2/24/intel-ivy-bridge-core-i7-3770k-is-capable-of-10025-overclock.aspx "We saw the samples of Core i7-3770K going from 3.5 GHz to a massive 7.06 GHz clock. By raising voltage to 1.889 Volts, using 63x multiplier and 112.11 MHz and using dry ice - the 22nm beast passed 7000 MHz. We expect that this processor is going to raise a lot of interest if it stays within the $350 range of its predecessor." Wow... I need to get this when its released... 100% Overclock
Waco Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 1.9 volts.
scr4wl Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 1.9 volts. It's better than what current sandy bridge chips can do at extreme volts. I haven't seen a single one over 6GHz (Ish) However I'm talking like 1.7-1.8V maybe the extra .1V would be enough
90sgamer Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 1.9 volts. Yeah, I would be sweating bullets with that high of a vcore voltage But, if I didn't have to pay for the proc, I would totally be like "break out the liquid helium... lets party " That would be amazing. Prunes Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I think the max for sandy bridge is 1.9V. I've gone that high, but that's the max in my BIOS. Will it not be the first CPU to overclock 100% above base value?
scr4wl Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Will it not be the first CPU to overclock 100% above base value? EDIT: Pretty much every LN2 run I've ever seen has the CPU overclocked past 100% above base value.
VaporX Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Okay so who has video of it playing Skyrim at this speed????
Waco Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Okay so who has video of it playing Skyrim at this speed???? I doubt it's stable enough for that.
Speedway Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I doubt it's stable enough for that. What? You mean barely being able to load into windows and praying it won't crash before you get a SS doesn't count? Still though, if they OC like that, then I'm a fan

Tjj226_Angel Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I just bought a 3930K and I already want to upgrade Wait for haswell. Smaller chip, less volts, higher clock frequency, rumored to use DDR4 memory which could (could and will are two different things unfortunately) benefit stuff like QPI voltages.
