DanTheGamer11 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 So I managed to fill the 8Gb that came with my Xperia Play... still have about 5 games(Each is around 1.2 Gb) and loads more music to put on so I've decided on purchasing either a 16Gb or 32Gb.. 32GB Category http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MB-MSBGAEU-32GB-Class-Micro/dp/B005FY61EK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326637571&sr=8-3 A Samsung whose price increases daily... I'll buy this too for the sake of it alongside it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-USB-microSD-Reader-microSDHC/dp/B0028R3NCU/ref=pd_rhf_se_shvl1 Kingston USB MicroSD reader Or http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lexar-32GB-Micro-Speed-Reader/dp/B004BR2ZTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326637571&sr=8-2 A Lexar 32Gb which comes with it's own reader... Both are Class 10 so speed shouldn't be a problem in comparison to my unbranded 8Gb Class 2 the phone came with... I mean my Wifi downloads are faster than it's writing speed... 16GB Category http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Class-Micro-Extreme-Speed/dp/B00569J5E2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326638258&sr=8-3 Another Samsung... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0065MN5LS/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=computers&psc=1 Lexar... Any input is welcome... A 16GB in Ireland would be 50 euro which is more expensive than a 32GB on Amazon...
DanTheGamer11 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) Bump gonna but it tomorrow, does a higher class equal to higher latency? http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/14279098/SanDisk-32GB-Micro-SD-HC-Memory-Card/Product.html?searchstring=&searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=2&searchfilters=ae212%7B644988%7D%2b&urlrefer=search Da be da best? Waco Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Higher class equals higher speed.
Locutus Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'm surprised the Xperia Play doesn't use a proprietary memory card. XD
DanTheGamer11 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Locutus I'm happy it doesn't, being stuck with 512MB for 2 years sucked... I know Waco but I've read posts on various websites saying that you only need Class 2 blah blah, only real reason is that I've read that High Class memory has? latency?? I'm guessing everybody recommends 32GB
Waco Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Higher class simply means it's faster - the latency will be better the higher the class is as well.
DanTheGamer11 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 People said latency was higher with small files such as apps? Do I need Class 10 or just buy a 4? Only benefit is pc transfer? Plus it would be more reliable cause less heat blah blah...

When shooting 1080p at 60fps on a camera you need lots of speed and low latency. Any issues people have with apps opening is on the processor in the phone. Finally with the classes class 4 has at least a 4mb/s but lower than 5mb/s write speed class 10 being the highest classed sd card has at least a 10mb/s write speed although my patriot lx pro 32gb sd card has a write of just over 20mb/s and a readjust over 30mb/s. Class 4 should be fine tho but you can spend as much as you like really. With higher classes always being better. If you really wanted it is possible to get some real expensive cards that are rated at 300mb/s although I don't see how that could ever be beneficial in a phone. DanTheGamer11 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I think I'm limited to a Class 4 or 6 cause all the rest won't ship here
Stonerboy779 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I think I'm limited to a Class 4 or 6 cause all the rest won't ship here Trust me when I day you should easily be able to find higher class sd cards in all form factors micro, sd ect if you go into a camera store. Should also get a better price there than from a computer or mobile phone store.
