Waco Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 What's wrong with your onboard sound? What are you looking to improve?
Gustavss14 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) What's wrong with your onboard sound? What are you looking to improve? I'm playing a lot of music, counterstrike and battlefield 3. I have the Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system. I would like to improve the sound of my music and the sound effects in my games. At this moment i have Sabertooth P67 B3 onboard sound. Black64 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 You get a cheaper ASUS Xonar 5.1, they go for about 30 bucks.

I honestly don't think you'll see much of an improvement going to a discrete card (especially with speakers).

Waco Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Are you sure? If you don't notice anything "wrong" now (like static or hissing) you're very unlikely to hear any difference.
Stonerboy779 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 If you don't notice anything "wrong" now (like static or hissing) you're very unlikely to hear any difference. So long as there isn't interference being introduced on your motherboard, ie hissing and popping. The soundcard wont make a difference with such a speaker set up. If you had higher quality speakers and receiver then yes you could notice a difference. Just as if you had a set of headphones that needed an amped output. d6bmg Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Asus Xonar DX would be more than enough for you IMO.
