d6bmg Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Most of the tims listed are just a few degrees apart, LOL Almost, but most of the paste easily available in the market are crap at least at my place.
Speedway Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Death is right, most TIMs are only seperated by a few degrees, but I'm still a big fan of Shin-Etsu
MJCRO Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Lol, but seriously Shin-Estu has been proven to have the highest heat transfer. But AC-5 or MX-4 is great too.
d6bmg Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 ^^ So, it comes down to personal choices about the compound.
TheyCallMeGunny Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Arctic Silver 5 is the best I've found. Just be careful as it is conductive, and getting any on your motherboard could be fatal. I usually abuse newegg, but not when buying mine. It's $15 on newegg right now, I got the exact same thing for $3 on ebay. When buying something like thermal compound, you can almost always find a cheaper deal if you look around.
edge929 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 My rule of thumb is to put nearly any TIM I have lying around on my CPU since there's a heat spreader/nothing to short-out with conductive grease. A few degrees Celsius is NOT going to break my 24/7 overclock so I refuse to pay for the "best" TIM if I have crap lying around. Now if I replace the TIM on my GPU I purposely want to use non-conductive grease like Ceramique or MX-4.
ViperCopper Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I think is either MX-4 or Arctic Silver 5. Both are very popular.
