Captainjack Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I'm wanting to try and overclock a Athlon XP 2500+ and I'm having a hard time finding official specs for it. I have searched AMD's web site and I cannot find any mention of the processor. Any suggestions of where I can find the specs?
scr4wl Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 What specs are you looking for? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Athlon_XP_microprocessors
Captainjack Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I was mostly looking for what the maximum suggested temperature should be for my stability testing.
VaporX Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K7/AMD-Athlon%20XP%202500+%20-%20AXDA2500DKV4D.html Looks like you want to keep it under say about 70C or so. Max rated is 85C but give yourself some headroom.

Captainjack Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Thanks for the quick replies. I still wonder why this isn't information that AMD would have readily available to search but I digress.
paulktreg Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I think it's about 90 deg C maximum for a XP processor but I'm sure you'll find what you need here?
scr4wl Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Amd actually does have a temp chart somewhere on their site. I've seen it a few times in forum posts, but I have no idea how to get to it. Lol
Drdeath Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 If you have a pre build OEM system you probably will not be able to overclock it. The bios is usually locked for overclocking. This chip is so slow under todays requirements it is pretty much slow at stock and slow overclocked.
SpikeSoprano Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011
I use to have one of those chips, with the right mb you can oc with the fsb but you can't raise it very high before thet won't boot or will blue screen.
Captainjack Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 If you have a pre build OEM system you probably will not be able to overclock it. It was a custom build and it's completely unlocked. This is my first overclock so I thought it would be better to try on an old computer that where it didn't matter If I messed something up. with the right mb you can oc with the fsb but you can't raise it very high before thet won't boot or will blue screen. I've seen some posts with a good amount of success with this chip so lets hope I get lucky
