paulktreg Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I'm having problems with my daughters PC on certain games like Fable 3 and the latest Batman were the screen freezes very early in the game with sound still working. The program won't close even via the task manager and a reset is necessary. Temperatures all OK. Furmark runs no problem. Memory test in Windows OK but not tried Memtest. Reinstalled graphics card driver using driver sweeper to remove the old one. Onboard soundcard driver not updated but is this such a big issue? This is only happening on certain games, others run fine. I think it's software related, something with the games maybe but my daughters not having that one! Any ideas? TheHostileGamer Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Well I was gonna say a power issue possibly but if Furmark runs fine then it probably isn't that. I would try taking off any overclocks and see if that straightens it up as some games don't take well to overclocks especially console ports. paulktreg Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 No overclock and power supply changed and still freezing.
TheHostileGamer Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Hmmmm What about connector to the monitor? VGA, DVI, or HDMI? If HDMI was version 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4? Maybe use a different video out from the video card? Just some ideas
El_Capitan Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Try checking the video settings for the games. Maybe she set them too high and now can't load them at those settings?
Black64 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 What windows?
paulktreg Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 From what I can remember Windows 7 Phenom II 955 4GB Corsair Dominator Asus Motherboard HD5850 Tried Memtest overnight and zero errors. Still not sure what's wrong. These games are via Steam and I've suggested she downloads and tries a fresh install?
Forb Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 When you reinstalled graphics driver, did you install the latest one?
paulktreg Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 When you reinstalled graphics driver, did you install the latest one? Yeah.
Black64 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I would try these 2 things. 1. Redownload the games. 2. Get the latest sound drivers. Just to rule out the software side.
bishop245 Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I agree with Black64 go ahead and dl the latest sound driver if that don't fix it then redl the games and see if that fixes it but as somebody else said it could also be the games setting are just to high for the comp to handle maybe
