blackend Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 I want to know how to overclock my 965 3.4 to 3.6 with the stock heatsink and regular case fans. My coretemp temp are 30C to 33C and my HWMonitor temp is 33C while my bios cpu temp is closer to 39C. I need to know what range my temps should be in and really how to do it. Id really appreciate any help at all!
SpikeSoprano Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 hey there , you really need to give us more info on your system, like psu , mb, ram and is it a black edition cpu, 200 mhz oc is no big deal even on a stock cooler but it not going to make much of a difference. Tazman167 Posted June 26, 2011 Posted June 26, 2011 well its pretty simple for the black edition processors. Just go into your bios and increase the multi up to 18 and thats all you need. then go into windows and test for stability using OCCT or Prime95. If it crashes you can increase the volts on your CPU a bit but i doubt u'll need to. Im running 4.1GHz on stock volts.
Drdeath Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 4.1GHz stable on stock voltage cannot be done.
IVIYTH0S Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 keep it under 62C LOAD temp (meaning while stress testing) and that's pretty much it. Raise your main multi and add more CPU voltage when you reach instability

IVIYTH0S Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1887928 Stress tested stable and proof of that, suicide runs can net a validation link
imm0rt41 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Stress tested stable and proof of that, suicide runs can net a validation link haha so true! Both of my AMDs will do 4GHz...for like 5 seconds lol
l1o2l Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 What we really want is your load temps. Run a game and monitor your temps and see whats the highest it goes up to. If its hitting 57 °C and above, then you'll need an aftermarket cooler. AMD's max temp they listed is 62 °C, but Phenom IIs generally hit a heat wall around high 50s and cannot be clocked any higher and will start to BSOD/error. Check out my blog for how I overclocked my 955.
