Need new cpu cooler :)

Recommended Posts

Ok, so i got the Cool IT ECO A.L.C and for my liking its a little bit noisy, i liked my AC freezer pro7 rev.2 but i sold it on :( i was wondering what heatsink would be good for my i5-760 @ 3.20GHz, i know 3.20GHZ aint a high overclock my temperture just now (idle) is 32c. I mostly play games such as l4d l4d2 bfbc2 killingfloor test drive 2 all the crysis's. Just anything that would keep it nice and cool and quite :)

it is not the fans that are the problem  it is the heatsink/pump. It is louder than i expected and i prefer air coolers but i am now stuck to what to get :dunno: Is the Thermaltake Frio anygood ? and i also seen the Fenrir Titan EVO that advertises on this forum, are these worth having a look at or worth buying ?

If your pump is anything other than silent there's something wrong with it. Both my and BluePanda's pumps were dead silent. Make sure you have it running at full speed (we used the 3-pin to 4-pin molex adapters to make sure).

I run my i5 750 at 3.68ghz with a Hyper 212+. It's the same temps as a stock HSF, so I'm sure 3.2 would be nice and cool and quiet.

+1

Get the Hyper 212+ it's an amazing cooler for the price-to-performance ratio. I over-clocked my I3-550 to 4.5Ghz with it--idles slightly above room tempts and maxes at 64C.

If you don't get the pump checked out the Noctua d14 is amazing. I have one and my temps dropped 20c. Craziest part is that I live in GA and was getting temps of around 70 when encoding a blu ray in december but i'm getting highs of 37 when doing the same thing now. And it has been 90 the past few days. I can't hear it either, just my terrible case fans...

I've been watercooling systems for years and although I've never owned a closed loop system...the pump is always the most silent piece. I've had pumps with bearing problems get noisy, but that was due to faulty parts. Have you checked your mounting to make sure everything is tight and as it should be? Pumps can introduce a lot of vibration and noise if you don't secure them properly and any vibration in a case can lead to annoying noises.

The price of the 212+ is so cheap that I would buy one as a backup and send the ECO in for repair. Once you get it back from service you'll have a nice spare HSF that can come in handy when testing or putting systems together.
