Stepping up

HatersGonnaHate

Recommended Posts

Good Afternoon,

I'll introduce myself with a quick rundown of my hardware and my intentions.

ASUS Crosshair IV Formula

AMD Athlon II X2 240 (Currently back at factory)

G.SKILL F3-10666CL7D-4GBRH (Back at factory)

XFX XXX 5770 (Always tweaking)

Corsair H50

Corsair 750TX

Antec Nine-Hundred Two

I built this setup last year with an ASUS M4A77TD with the intention of easing into Overclocking. I've toyed with the 240 up to 3710mhz (265*14) under various conditions but I belive I hit a thermal limit. I moved to the Crosshair IV Formula recently and experimented again but couldn't break the barrier and remain stable. Anything above 265mhz FSB, regardless of NB & RAM frequency, would not be stable under stress; although I could boot until about 280mhz.

So I've decided to keep scratching the itch with a Black Edition of something. The X6 are calling to me but I think, and ask for opinion, of easing into an X4 with all intention of finding each limit I can. Max FSB, Max Multiplier, Lowest Voltage to boot, Highest Clock stable, Highest Clock boot, Highest Vantage score, and whatever else I can think of. I'd love to make a screamer.

It was my birthday yesterday so I should spoil myself, shouldn't I? :cool2:

My peripherals are Razer Lachesis, Razer Lycosa, & Logitech Clearchat Wireless

Personal Opinon: I find the Clearchat very comfortable for very long sessions and I've previously used the G35, Gamecom 377 & 777 which all began to irritate my ears or neck after five hours

Welcome to OCC!!

Since you have mastered bclock Overclocking, I'd get 1055T and overclock manually to save more money and lose nothing :)

Unless you have a board that hates high FSBs. :P

Go for the 1090T and welcome to OCC!

I'd go ahead adn spoil yourself a bit and get the X6. It will be alot more Umph then that X4 can do and it will be an enjoyable overclock.

Happy birthday BTW. cheers.gif
