Rewrite2 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Hello, I have been stalking this forum for some time and reading as much as I can. This was the first rig I have ever built and here are the specs. Case - Corsair Obsidian 800D Psu - Seasonic 760W Gold Rated Modular Mobo - EVGA FTW3 CPU - Intel i7 950 CPU Cooler - Corsair H70 Memory - Corsair xms3 tri channel DDR3 1600 GPU - EVGA GTX 570 SC SSD - Crucial C300 BDROM - Samsung OS - Win7 Ultimate 64 *Others* 4 Scythe Gentle Typhoon AP15's. Two for push and pull replace on the H70 and Two for exhaust. 2 Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentPro PK-3's for intake and a Sunbeam 30W Rheosmart 6 Channel Smart Fan Controller She has been up & stable for 2 weeks. I would really like to hit 4ghz if possible. I use my machine for gaming mainly and just want the most out of it. I am intimidated when I get into bios lol. Any suggestions on Overclocking would be greatly appreciated. this is my first build so I am new to alot of this stuff. Thanks ahead of time ! Speedway Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Wow this looks awesome! Thanks tons for the welcome and the link! Tonight will be my first attempt wish me luck! lol GL BIOS can be very intimidating at 1st, but once you get the hang of it, it is much less scary The i7's are actually pretty easy to OC IMO! Rewrite2 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Well this sucks =( I mean it isn't the end of the world and I learned alot anyway!!!!!! lol. My SATAIII ports are bad the control is broke. I could not figure out why my SSD would not work in the SATAIII port but would work fine in SATAII so I reflashed my board and put the newest bios on it. Updated all new drivers on all hardware and firmware. Checked to make sure everything was set to go in my bios for the controler to recognize. Finnaly broke down and contacted EVGA. They were hands down the best customer service I have EVER EVER EVER had the pleasure to deal with. Honest to god it was top notch. They were fast the knew exactly what they were talking about and after describing my MOBO's symptoms and the steps I took to diagnose they told me to RMA the board they cover shipping etc. So I am going to keep trying to Overclock now before I send it out. I mean its not THAT big of a deal because the computer works just fine. It just sucks knowing I could be getting that much more performance out of my SSD if they were in the SATAIII ports. Back to the drawing board and learnining to OC and thanks again everyone!

Then make it our mission to push it to the limits! Ah, nothing like purposely trying to break stuff without purposely trying to break it, lololol. Rewrite2 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 So I messed something up =(. I think I removed a sats device driver and now I cant do a fresh win7 install on my ssd. Any pointers on how I can reinstall device drivers prior to putting win7 on my computer?
IVIYTH0S Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 you might be able to do it with a flash drive, and the driver file to initialize before the setup

Any pointers on how I can reinstall device drivers prior to putting win7 on my computer? I highly doubt you messed anything up. The way you explained it and the fact that they approved your RMA pretty much says its not your fault. I was more commenting on the fact of how you cant wait to get back overclocking lol.
