xly15 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 My sister gave an Asus 19" lcd disay that is having problems. I have figured out the problem. The problem is the ccfl backlight is going out. Is that something I could fix on my own if I wanted to get the display working. Can I fix the monitor on my own?
wevsspot Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 You can replace the backlight assuming that you can find a replacement part. We do it everyday (albeit on a much larger scale).
xly15 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Thanks. Do you know where I can find a replacement backlight?

dling Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Don't know your model no. but here's a web-site that seems to have a lot. http://www.lcdparts.net/agnCCFLlamp.aspx?g...CFchn5QodJ2l0pg hope this helps, good luck
MasterRex862 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Replacing a backlight usually requires a bit of soldering. It's usually more of a pain in the arse to disassemble the LCD panel than it is to solder the backlight leads on, though. Good luck! xchrissypoox Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) Warranty? If its still covered it may be worth it to ship it back to them. Edited November 20, 2009 by xchrissypoox
wevsspot Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Depending on the model/brand of panel you may or may not have to solder them in. Usually there is only one bad bulb. Lcd panels can have up to 24 bulbs depending on the size/brand, some are horseshoe in shape but most are straight bulbs and it eiher clip in or have to be soldered in. We order are replacement LCD parts from here; http://dkc1.digikey.com/us/en/techzone/lig...other/ccfl.html
xly15 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 The monitor is out of warranty and even if it wasn't I have already opened it to take a look. The reason I want to fix the display is basic I would be getting for very cheap if I did.
