Karonysus Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Hey everyone, I'm need a new video card asap. >_< I decided to get the GeForce GTS 250... But I stumbled across two different ones. BFG GeForce GTS 250 OC 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...amp;catid=25617 vs. Zotac GeForce GTS 250 1GB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...amp;catid=20397 There is a huge difference in price at the moment ($169.99 vs. $229.99 respectively), but I don't know how they differ besides brands. Can someone tell me what the difference is in pros and cons between these two cards please?
IVIYTH0S Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) The BFG is OC'd, but DEAR GOD do not buy that card for 229.99......That is ROBBERY! even 169.99 is pushing it (and yes I know you're in Canada) This is what you should be looking at, a 4870 1GB for $160.49 ($140.49 after rebate) Edited September 23, 2009 by IVIYTH0S
_TheAlexO Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 AH please dont order yet. See if you can find a 4850 Do the games you play use Physx heavily?
IVIYTH0S Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) What's your resolution too?? If it's <1680x1050 than the 4870 would be best but if it's <1280x1024 than a 4850 ($113.99 before rebate, $98.99 after) or 250 GTS ($128.49) would be best Edited September 23, 2009 by IVIYTH0S

JUST because of Physx and the comparable FPS performance. At that resolution, he should be fine in any game with close to max settings

_TheAlexO Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 but if you do not play batman , or darkest of days then 4850 ..since it gives the same performance but lacks physx... well, there are more games that utilize it than that. but not many. IVIYTH0S Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 (edited) Agreed if you can fit a 9800GTX+ buy that it's the same thing as a 250 but larger and cheaper and I've read reviews that even though 9800gtx's are 65nm not 55nm, they still use the same power, generate the same heat, and even generate the same performance when clocked identically to a 9800gtx+!! :thumbs-up: Edited September 23, 2009 by IVIYTH0S

I think it is cause it is the only one on newegg but I mean what??? what??? But to the OP buy a gtx260 or a 4850 or a 4870 or get a 9800GTX or GTX+ (if on newegg get a plus unless the 9800gtx's go down to a real price in which case get a 9800) Edited September 23, 2009 by xchrissypoox

I've seen old 260 192's for big money on zipzoomfly (and have even complained to them), sometimes they don't change the prices. I'd hit up ebay for the 9800gtx/gtx+ (really I'd hit up ebay for any of the cards)
