Krieg1337 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I have heard that if you turn on the "SLI" feature the memory doesn't work properly, not sure if that is true though. Best idea, just don't turn anything on
_TheAlexO Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Yea there is no SLI or CrossFire RAM.. All the big manufacturers make the exact same RAM just different heatsinks . .
actionstan Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 thats pretty much what i figured "sli ram" just makes it sound better i guess hahaha

suburban36 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I am not certain if you are referring to the "SDRAM" (which your link says this patriot memory is) or the fact that some RAM is SLI ready such as the OCZ ram. The "SLI ready" is supposed to certify that this RAM is rated by the manufacturer to work on SLI enabled motherboards. If the motherboard is DDR2 or DDR3 ready with a PC-8500 (or PC2/3-what ever speed) the matching memory module will work just fine. Please note a number of manufacturers also make power supplies rated as either crossfire or sli ready. This is just a way of trying to communicating with the public that their product will work with crossfire or sli ready motherboards. Compxpert Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Actually I think if I've read about it correctly its supposed to incorporate some ram performance feature that non-sli ram doesn't have but afik performance is the same. Pretty much just a marketing gimmick. Edit: Nvidia tells you specifically what SLI Ready mem does: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_mem.html Basically has support for EPP 1.0 and 2.0 profiles and oooo special advanced memory settings if you use it.... which more or less you probably don't need either.
