MandoPatriot Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Just wondering, but a lot of people have stated that they think my issues with CSS are due to a memory leak. Well, how do I diagnose this problem? Are there certain things I can do or run that will see if there is? Or maybe there is something wrong with my memory? Any info you can give would be most appreciated!! Verran Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Do they think CSS is leaking memory, or do they think something else on your PC is and it's causing performance problems for CCS? You could always just watch your processes monitor. CTRL-ALT-DEL and pull up the task manager, then go to the processes tab. It will show you everything that's running and there's a description column in there for how much memory each is using. You could keep an eye on things in there manually and just see if anything seems to be funky. Or if you don't think your knowledgeable enough to find the culprit yourself, next time you're having problems, pull up that menu, expand it to show everything and take a screenshot. Then people here could look too and help you try to spot programs that are using way more memory than they should.
Blackninja543 Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 You could always tape up your ram.... that should fix the leak . What you might want to consider is its time for a fresh format/install of your OS. How long has it been since you last formated your OS drive and when/what are the problems you are noticing with CSS. I generally found that if there is a problem with any of my games on Steam, I can just run a error check with steam and the fixes it 9/10 times. The last time I formatted Windows was maybe 3-4 weeks ago. How do I run an error check with Steam? And I'll take screenshots and post them, because I don't really know what I'm looking for haha. I THINK he means to right click your game in Steam, select Properties, select Local Files, and select verify integrity of game cache. Blackninja543 Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 mabey its gas, you know long intervals of inactivity can play havec with the human digestive system . Sry had to Anyway as far as the rest of your system is concerned are you noticing this anywhere else, in general browsing, other games, and also has there been a power surge any time recently? Even though it probably would kill the system, a power surge can damage compenents without accutally frying them but i rly dont think thats the case(VERY VERY UNLIKELY). No loss in FPS, just lag. mabey its gas, you know long intervals of inactivity can play havec with the human digestive system . Not a power surge, I have a surge protector. I figured out what it was. My video card was over heating. The fan is set to 40% speed from the factory, just had to up that and all is good. Blackninja543 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 What was your card's temp running at before and after you readjusted the fan settings, just curious?
MandoPatriot Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 What was your card's temp running at before and after you readjusted the fan settings, just curious? Couldn't tell ya to be honest. I just got the program that views the temp of it, and I upped the vid card fan speed on a hunch. Bye bye choppiness!
