O(V)eGA_l2el) Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 (edited) When your video card's memory is running low a certain amount of memory (the aperture) will be used as "virtual memory" for graphics. Around 64mb-128mb are common aperture settings; video card's with 128mb+ memory do not need 512mb set for aperture. nic anelka Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 Is there a noticeable difference after altering the aperture size?
dling Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 if ur saying that the aperture, is system memory being set aside for video, and i have a gig. of system mem. it seems that it could olny be a positive, to have more made available, for vga . unless, somehow theres a attendency use the sys. memory before the vga. or mabe it does'ent really matter. sykocus Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 i got best results setting it to at least the amout of onboard video memory. you'll really see the difference when really pushing lots of graphics, high res and high detail settings. Eva_Unit_0 Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Don't ever set it lower than 64mb. If you set it too low, then it disables agp texturing completely. 128mb seems to be the best setting IMO.
ravix Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 I think 128 megabytes is the ideal setting, but if you have above 512mb and you run high-res games, you might as well go with 256.
