The Punkinator Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 The case is not to great but the rest is pretty good IMO. I would go for a thermaltake or antec case. Thermalright ultra 120 is always a good cooler.
dr_bowtie Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 personally I would go for a Zalman 9700 CNPS cooler... beings you are already on Ebay look up Refurbdoc....this is Zalman's refurb site and the cooler come refurbished for cheap...they DO combine shipping on multiple items if you decide to do so... I have bought at least 2 dozen coolers from this site and they do come direct from Zalman with a Zalman invoice.... I dont recommend Thermalright coolers to anyone and 99% of the time they arent flat or true at all and need lapped for performance... I cant see shelling out big money for a cooler that still needs work done to it...
Verran Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I ran a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme on my Q6600 but now that it's in a secondary rig it's actually back to the stock cooler which is fine if I don't stress it too much.
SAJBAMA Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 At 3 ghz the q6600 is not really hot(most do the 333mhz fsb just a bit above the default vcore)Go with a S1283,a Sunbeam Core or the TRUE is always a safe buy,bit more expensive... dr_bowtie Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 depends alot on what stepping you have... I have a crap chip...it's a B3 stepping and it's hot even at stock....I am sitting at stock right now with the default vcore of 1.25v and it's sitting at 48c idle and load hits 60c easily... now bumping that up to 334x9 on a 266 strap I need 1.45v to get it stable...it hits 60c idle and well over 70c loaded... now you might say teh cooler is crap being a Zalman 9700 but it's not... I had a Q6700 GO stepping in this rig and the default vcore was 1.19v and it would do 300x10 at default vcore and idle temps were 28c and full load temps were 45c same everything but the chip...the Q6700 will do 400x10 easily on 1.45v and even then full load temps never went over 55c it just depends on the chip... kozary Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 The case is not to great but the rest is pretty good IMO. I would go for a thermaltake or antec case. Thermalright ultra 120 is always a good cooler. the sunbeamtech core contact freezer is cheaper and pretty much better in every way, cheaper, lighter, cools about the same if not better. dont know if they fit GB mobos.
