Push pins

Recommended Posts

I'm fed up with these stupid pushpins for socket 775, and I'm looking for a good CPU cooler with a nice and sturdy backplate and good ole' screws!

Any ideas on what cooler would suit me? I've got lots of room in my Lian Li chassi.

I have a Thermalright HR-01 in my Lian Li with the bolt down backplate to go with it - I hate the push pins too!

This backplate will work with a TRUE heatsink as well. which is a forum favourite CPU cooler.

That looks exactly like the mount for TR True Black if I'm not mistaken? I think True Black is a favourite for now, I have a hard time buying accessories since I have to import most of it here in Sweden...

It probably is the same mount, you can't really go wrong with anything in the Thermalright range - they are all good CPU coolers. My HR-01 came with a push-pin mount, so I had to buy this as an extra, but it looks like the bolt through kit is a standard part for the True Black model.

I run 2 Scythe Ultra Kazes with my TRUE black and they work GRRRREAT!

I run sythes as well but Kaze Jyunis instead of ultra kazes. I didn't like the db to cfm ratio especially since it was only 20cfm difference between the two.

whatever works, i just bought a fan controller and now they run quieter than my GPU's fan, while still seeming to pull off equally as good cooling as always. I only crank them up to max for stress testing but folding 24/7 has them only hittin like 62C max. And if I turn them down any bit lower than they shut off.

Okay, so Scythes a great option... What do you think about Noctua NF-P12?

Also, should I use my Artic Silver thermal grease or the grease that comes with the TRUE Black?

They should be pretty good too but I have no personal experience with them (though I know Noctua is a reputable company)

I just bought the Ultra Kazes cuz they pump the most air for a 120mm and I knew I could just get a fan controller if they were too loud (which they were at full speed).

Get whatever satisfies the money you're willing to spend as I'm guessing the P12's are less expensive right? Keep in mind too that the Ultra Kazes are 38mm's thick compared to the standard 25mm like the p12

I heard the grease that comes with the TRUE is good stuff so use whichever you'd like, or whichever is already open.

the asus shotgun on my worker blows cool (4000+ rpm optimal) keeps the c2d @32c idle and 45c folding, it's quiet and best of all has nice tight screw down backplate

and it's pretty cheap...!!

Hm... Ultra Kaze Fan (3000rpm) costs just about half of what a P12 cost actually! And the thickness should be no problem for me either! :thumbs-up:

My Artic Silver shot is already open, so i suppose that will be my grease of choice for now... Still nice of TR to include a shot that will last a while!
